Okay, so I was digging into this whole LSAT thing, and let me tell you, it’s a beast. I heard about this “unscored section” and I was like, “What’s that all about?” So, I decided to figure it out myself.
First, I grabbed a bunch of practice tests. I mean, a real pile of them. I figured the best way to understand this unscored section was to just dive in and see it in action.
The Experiment Begins
I started taking these practice tests, one after another. I noticed right away that there was always one extra section that didn’t seem to count towards my score. Sometimes it was Logical Reasoning, sometimes Reading Comp, and sometimes even those weird Logic Games.
- I kept track of which section was unscored in each test.
- I tried to see if there was a pattern, like, did it always show up in the same spot?
- Nope, it was totally random!
Then, I started getting tricky. I thought, “What if I just bombed this unscored section? Like, purposely did awful?” So, on one test, I circled “C” for every answer in the unscored section, without even reading the questions. I made sure I did this with a section I thought was my weakness just in case it wasn’t unscored. I wanted to see if it would affect my overall score.
The Results Are In…
Guess what? It didn’t! My score was based only on the other sections, the ones that actually counted. This unscored section was like a ghost – it was there, but it didn’t have any real power over my score. But, I still tried my best on it, just in case. I figured it was good practice, and it couldn’t hurt, right?
So, after all this, I realized the unscored section is basically just the test makers trying out new questions. They throw it in there to see how people do, but it doesn’t impact your score at all. It’s like a secret test within the test. It is a bit of a mind game, but as long as you don’t freak out, you can probably figure out which section was unscored and not worry too much about it!
