Okay, so today I decided to get back on the court and work on my game, specifically focusing on some drills I found online about Alex Smith’s basketball training. I haven’t played seriously in a while, so I was pretty excited, but also a little nervous about how rusty I’d be.
Getting Started
First, I headed to my local park. Luckily, the court was empty. I started with some basic warm-ups – you know, jogging, stretching, some arm circles, and the works. I gotta loosen up those muscles, it preventing injury!
I did some dynamic stretching. And then I moved on to some light ball-handling.
The Drills
Then I began to practice.
- Dribbling:I dribbled around the cones, figure-eights, crossovers – trying to keep my head up and the ball low. My handles were definitely shaky at first.
- Shooting:Next up, shooting.I worked on my form, making sure my elbow was in and I had a good follow-through. After a few air balls – I started to find my rhythm.
- Layups:I practiced layups, that’s mean I drove to the basket from different angles, and worked on finishing strong. Left hand, right hand, you know I’m working hard.
The Grind
I spent about an hour just running through these drills, over and over.I was exhausted, I gotta be honest! My legs felt like jelly, and my arms felt like they were gonna fall off. I took some water breaks in between, of * i kept pushing myself, trying to focus on getting better with each repetition.
Cool Down
Finally, I finished up with some cool-down stretches, just to make sure I don’t cramp up later. I walked around the court a bit to lower my heart beat.
Overall, it was a good workout! I definitely felt like I got some good practice in, even if I was a bit rusty at the start. It’s all about getting back into the groove, right? Gotta keep at it if I want to see improvement. I think I’ll try to do this a few times a week and see how it goes.
