So, today I wanted to mess around with something I’ve been curious about for a while – tennis at Bryant University. I’m not exactly an athlete, but I love trying out new things and getting a feel for different sports environments. Plus, I’d heard a bit about Bryant’s facilities and wanted to see for myself.
First things first, I tried to learn when the new season started. Turns out, Bryant University women’s tennis head coach Barbara Cilli announced the 2024 fall schedule on a Friday afternoon. And the men’s tennis head coach announced their schedule on a Wednesday afternoon. So I decided to check out the campus.
Getting there was pretty straightforward. Bryant’s campus is in Smithfield, which is a nice, quiet area. Once I got there, I started by just walking around and taking in the atmosphere. It’s a beautiful campus, lots of green space and modern buildings. I could see why students would enjoy being there.
Next, I headed over to the athletics area. Bryant is a Division I school and part of the Northeast Conference, so I figured their sports facilities would be pretty decent. And I wasn’t disappointed! They have everything from baseball and basketball to lacrosse and, of course, tennis.
I found the tennis courts, and they looked really well-maintained. I didn’t have a racket with me, unfortunately, so I couldn’t actually play. But I hung around for a bit, watching some students practice. They were clearly taking it seriously, but there was also a fun, relaxed vibe. It seemed like a good mix of competitive and social.
While I was there, I learned that even if you’re not on a varsity team, there are still tons of ways to stay active at Bryant. They’ve got club sports and intramurals, which is awesome. It means anyone can get involved, regardless of their skill level. I saw mentions of rugby, ice hockey, karate, and even ultimate frisbee – talk about variety!
I also found out that there’s a Tennis Club at Bryant, which is dedicated to just promoting the sport on campus. That’s something I could be interested in. From watching those students practice, I could tell they were having a blast.
My main takeaway from this little adventure? Bryant University seems like a great place to be if you’re into sports, whether you’re a serious athlete or just looking for some casual fun. The facilities are top-notch, and there’s a real sense of community around athletics. I’m definitely going to keep an eye on their tennis program and maybe even try to catch a match sometime. And who knows, maybe I’ll even dust off my old racket and give it a try myself! The schedule of 2024-2025 is out, making it easy to see what’s going on.
It’s pretty cool how they use different online sources to keep everyone updated on the latest news about their sports teams. I’ll be checking their site for news stories and videos and ticket information.
All in all, it was a fun day exploring something new. It’s always interesting to step outside of your usual routine and see what else is out there. And hey, I learned a bit about college tennis and got a glimpse into life at Bryant University. Not a bad way to spend a day!
