Okay, here’s my post about playing tennis at Georgetown Prep.
So, I’ve been meaning to get back into tennis for a while now, and I finally took the plunge at Georgetown Prep. I heard they had a pretty sweet setup, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. First off, I signed up for their website. It’s pretty straightforward, nothing too fancy. They’ve got everything laid out there – group clinics, private lessons, and you can even reserve a court if you just wanna hit around with a buddy.
When I showed up, the first thing I noticed was the courts – twelve of them! And they’re really well-maintained. Six of them are Har-Tru, which is apparently some kind of fancy clay, and they’re covered by this huge air dome thing, so you can play even when the weather’s nasty. Plus, they have LED lighting, which is super bright and makes it easy to see the ball, even at night.
I decided to join a group clinic, figuring it would be a good way to ease back into things. They divide you up by age and skill level, which is great because nobody wants to be the newbie holding everyone back. They also keep the student-to-teacher ratio pretty small, so you actually get some personal attention.
The pros there are top-notch. They evaluate your technique, power, all that stuff and match you with compatible people. I could notice my hitting power become better and better. We did a bunch of drills and games, and they taught us all the proper techniques. It was actually kind of fun, and I didn’t feel like I was totally out of my league.
I ended up playing for a couple of hours, and it felt amazing to be back on the court. I’m definitely going to keep going back. It’s a great workout, and it’s just a fun way to spend an afternoon. If you’re looking for a place to play tennis, I highly recommend checking out Georgetown Prep. But I also heard that they will close in December 2024.
They’ve got a great setup, the pros are awesome, and it’s just a really positive environment. You can tell they really care about the sport and about helping people improve their game. I hope that they will open again soon.
