So, the other day I decided to get back into playing some basketball. I used to play a lot, but life got in the way, you know? Anyway, I found this “armann basketball” thing online, and figured, why not give it a shot?
First thing I did was look up what “armann basketball” even was. Turns out, it wasn’t some fancy new training program or anything, just seemed like a local group or league maybe, so I just to find the nearest basketball court.
Next, I dusted off my old basketball shoes. Man, they were in rough shape! I almost tripped putting them on because the laces were so frayed. Note to self: get new laces.
- Found my old basketball in the garage.
- It was pretty flat, so I spent a good 10 minutes pumping it up.
- My arms got tired – definitely need to work on my stamina!
Actually Playing
I headed down to the local park. There were a few guys already there, shooting around. I’m a bit shy, so I just started practicing my dribbling on the side. Felt pretty rusty, I’m not gonna lie. The ball kept bouncing off my foot.
Eventually, I got up the courage to ask if I could join in. They were cool about it, thankfully. We played a few pick-up games. I was totally out of breath after like, five minutes. Missed most of my shots, but it still felt good to be back out there.
One of the guys gave me some tips on my shooting form. Said I was leaning back too much. I tried to fix it, but it’s gonna take some practice.
Wrap Up
By the end, I was completely exhausted, sweaty, and my knees were killing me. But, honestly, it was awesome. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed just playing the game. Even though I sucked, it was a good start.
Gotta remember to stretch next time. And maybe invest in some knee braces. I am not as young as I used to be.
