So, I recently started diving into the world of prep school hockey, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the ride. I’ve always been a huge hockey fan, but mostly at the professional level. Then I heard about this place, Avon Old Farms, and their legendary hockey rink. It sparked my curiosity, so I decided to check it out.
First, I did some digging online. Found out that Avon Old Farms is a big name in New England prep hockey. These guys are serious, winning championships and all that. I mean, since 2019-20, they’ve got a 92-12-5 record, which is nuts. They even won the Elite 8 championship in 2023.
I looked into their programs and their schedule for the 2024-2025 season. Man, these guys are busy! It’s not just about the games, though. The school itself seems pretty exclusive. A 45% acceptance rate? That’s competitive.
Then there’s the rink itself—Jennings-Fairchild Rink. People talk about it like it’s some kind of hockey cathedral. Turns out, they host this big event every year, the Annual Avon Old Farms Christmas Hockey Classic. This year, it’s from December 19th to 21st. That’s going on my calendar.
I gotta say, getting into this has been eye-opening. It’s a whole different world from the NHL, but just as intense. The dedication these young players have, the history of the school and the rink—it’s all pretty fascinating.
- Started researching Avon Old Farms and their hockey program.
- Checked out their impressive win record.
- Looked into the upcoming season’s schedule.
- Learned about the Christmas Hockey Classic.
- Got a sense of the school’s competitive atmosphere.
I’m planning to visit the rink sometime soon. Just to see it in person, soak in the atmosphere. It’s one thing to read about it, but I bet it’s a whole different experience being there.
All in all, this little adventure into prep school hockey has been a blast. I’m learning a lot, and it’s giving me a new appreciation for the sport. Who knew there was so much going on in these prep school leagues?
I will keep everyone posted on my next steps, especially if I do make it out to the rink. I might even try to catch a game during the Christmas Classic. Now, wouldn’t that be something?
This whole experience has been a reminder that there’s always more to discover, even in areas you think you know well.
Stick around, there might be more updates coming soon!
