Okay, so I’ve been wanting to find some good places to shoot hoops in Columbus, Ohio. I did some digging and tried a few spots, and let me tell you, it was quite the adventure.
First, I started with a simple online search. You know, just typed in “basketball courts Columbus Ohio” and see what popped up. A bunch of names came up, but I needed more than just names, right? I wanted to find places with good reviews, maybe some photos, and decent information about whether they were open to the public and stuff.
After that, I made a list of a few promising spots. I picked out three that seemed pretty popular and had some good feedback online. One was a park, another was at a community center, and the last one was part of a university campus.
My Hoops Hunt Begins
Then came the fun part – actually checking them out! I drove to the first one, a park in a nice-looking neighborhood. I parked my car and walked over to the courts. They were in pretty good shape, but man, it was crowded! I watched for a bit, but didn’t really want to wait around for a court, so I moved on.
Next up, the community center. This one was a bit trickier. I went inside, asked the front desk about the courts, and they pointed me to a gym. It was a nice, indoor court, but they had some kind of youth league practice going on. Bummer! No luck there either.
Finally, I headed to the university campus. I found the courts after a bit of wandering around. They were outdoor courts, and looked a little worn, but hey, they were empty! I grabbed my ball and started shooting around. It wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough to get some practice in.
Final Thoughts

- Weekends are probably super busy. I might try going during the week next time.
- Even a not-so-great court is better than no court. I still got to play a bit, which was the whole point.
