Well now, let me tell ya about this here BC High hockey team. Them boys are somethin’ else, I tell ya. I heard tell they had a mighty fine season, real good one, back in 2023-24, with a record of 34 wins, 6 losses, and 1 tie. Sounds like they know how to handle a puck, don’t it?
Folks say these boys, they’ve been trainin’ real hard. They’re not just out there skatin’ around; they’ve been puttin’ in the time, workin’ with their coaches. And those coaches, well, they ain’t just teachin’ ‘em how to play hockey. No sir, they’re raisin’ ‘em to be good folks too, good students, good members of the community. That’s important, ya know, not just to be good at the game but to be good in life, too.
Now, BC High’s hockey team ain’t just a bunch of kids skatin’ around. Oh no, they’re serious about this game. They play in some big leagues, and when they hit the ice, folks sit up and take notice. Some of them boys have even played in national competitions, puttin’ their skills to the test against the best of the best. Makes a granny proud, I tell ya.
In fact, I heard that during one of their big games against Andover, they won 5-0. A clean sweep! That’s not somethin’ you see every day. And then there was another game, against Duxbury—BC High took ‘em down 7-1! That’s a mighty fine way to show who’s boss on the ice. I reckon the folks in those towns were talkin’ about that for weeks!
It ain’t just the goals that got folks talkin’ though. No sir, it’s the teamwork, too. These boys know how to work together, and when they got a good goalie, well, that’s like havin’ a sturdy fence to keep the cows in. I heard their goalie, Christian Gonsalves, was all over the place in one of them games, and he helped ‘em win 2-1 over Hingham. Real tight game, but he held strong, kept that puck outta the net. Now that’s what I call a good game!
But it ain’t always easy, like I said before. These boys don’t just play against anyone. They face tough teams like Pope Francis and Minnechaug. But you know what? BC High’s boys don’t back down. Nope. They give it their all. Every time they step on that ice, they know they got to fight for every inch. And that’s exactly what they did, whether it was beatin’ Minnechaug 6-1 or takin’ down Andover with a big ol’ 5-0 victory.
Now, I don’t know if these boys are gonna win every game, but you can bet your bottom dollar they’re gonna give it their best shot. It don’t matter if they’re playin’ in the Buddy Ferreira Classic or just a regular season game—they’re out there playin’ for pride, playin’ for the team, and playin’ for all the folks who believe in ‘em.
That’s what makes a team like BC High so special. They don’t just show up, they show up ready to win. And they do it with heart. Heart and hustle. So, if you’re ever in the stands watchin’ them, you’ll see what I mean. They play with a fire that burns bright, and they’re always fightin’ for that win, no matter what the scoreboard says.
So, if you’re lookin’ for some good ol’ hockey, make sure to keep an eye on BC High. You won’t regret it, I promise ya. These boys are somethin’ to watch, and I reckon they’ll be makin’ a lot of folks proud for many seasons to come.
