Alright, let me tell you about my little tennis adventure from yesterday. So, I’ve been trying to get back into playing tennis after a long break. I found this chart thing online about different tennis levels, and I figured I’d see where I stand.
First off, I grabbed my old racket and some balls, then headed to the local courts. I was feeling a bit rusty, not gonna lie. I started by just hitting the ball against the wall, trying to get a feel for it again. It took some time, but I slowly started to get into a rhythm.
Practicing the Basics
After warming up, I tried serving. Man, that was harder than I remembered! My serves were all over the place, but hey, I was having fun. I probably spent a good hour just practicing serves, trying to get them over the net and inside the service box. Some landed in, some didn’t. It’s all part of the process, right?
Next, I tried playing a few practice sets with a friend who’s also a bit rusty. We weren’t keeping score or anything, just hitting the ball back and forth, trying to get some rallies going. We were both huffing and puffing, but it felt good to be moving around and hitting the ball.
Self-Rating My Skills
- Serve: Definitely needs work. I’d say I’m somewhere between a beginner and someone who kinda knows what they’re doing.
- Forehand: Not bad, but could be better. I was able to hit the ball over the net most of the time, but not always with the power or direction I wanted.
- Backhand: Oh boy, this one needs a lot of practice. It’s my weaker side, and it showed.
- Overall: Based on that online guide thing, I’d probably rate myself as a 2.5. I’ve got the basics down, but there’s still a long way to go. I can see why they say 3.0 is good enough for high school.
My goal is to get to at least a 3.0 level. I mean, 7.0 is like pro, so 3.0 is a good target. I know it will take a lot of practice and maybe even some lessons, but I’m determined to improve. It’ll be fun to track my progress and see how much I can improve over time. I might even film myself to see what I am doing wrong. They say on the internet that filming yourself and practicing 3 times a week for 3 months will get you to 3.0. I’ll try that!
Anyway, that’s my tennis story for now. It’s a journey, and I’m excited to see where it takes me. I am hoping to beat less skilled players soon, but I will try my best to play against those with similar or better skills. Stay tuned for more updates!
