So, the other day I was trying to dig up some info on this hockey player named Ben Robertson. I don’t know, I just got curious about him, and started my little online adventure.
First, I just hit up my usual search engine, typing in “Ben Robertson hockey”. Man, I got a whole bunch of different results. It seems like there are a few Ben Robertsons in the hockey world. I had to sift through a bit to figure out which one I was actually interested in.
I clicked on a few links from this site called . They had profiles for a couple of different Ben Robertsons. One was born in 2006, from Halifax, and another was born in 2008, from Port Perry. And then there was another one born in 2004, from Potomac Falls. It was a bit of a mess, honestly.
Narrowing it Down
After bouncing around a bit, I figured out that the Ben Robertson I was probably most interested in was the one born in 2004. I found some stats that said he scored 5 goals and had 57 assists in 118 games with the U.S. National Development Team. That sounded pretty good, but I wanted to know more.
- Checked out some NHL news sites: I found a few articles and mentions of him on some NHL news sites. There wasn’t a ton of in-depth stuff, mostly just mentions of his name here and there, and some rumors that were tough to track.
- Social media: I even tried looking him up on social media, but that was a dead end, too. Maybe he’s not super active online, or maybe I just wasn’t looking in the right places.
More Details
I did stumble across some more specific details about him. Apparently, he’s a defenseman, 5’11”, 165 pounds. That’s all well and good, but it didn’t really give me a feel for what he’s like as a player. I guess you could say this whole search was a bit of a wild goose chase. I found some basic information, but nothing that really satisfied my curiosity. I guess some things are just meant to stay a bit of a mystery. But, you know, I had fun poking around the internet anyway. That’s the joy of these little research projects, right?
