Well now, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here Bentley hockey. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I know a thing or two about watchin’ games and hearin’ folks talk.
First off, they got this team, the Bentley Falcons. Sounds fancy, huh? Falcons, like them birds that fly real high. These boys, they play ice hockey, which is like… well, it’s like skatin’ on ice and hittin’ a little black puck with a stick. Sounds simple enough, but them fellers go at it like it’s the last piece of pie at a church supper.
Now, from what I hear, this Bentley hockey ain’t just some small-time thing. They play in a big league, somethin’ called Division I. That’s supposed to be real good, like the best of the best. They got another bunch of teams at Bentley too, playin’ other stuff, but this hockey team, they’re special. They even got their own fancy place to play, called the Bentley Arena. Built it just a few years back, I reckon. Must be nice, havin’ your own place to play, not havin’ to share with the neighbor kids.
These Bentley Falcons, they play in somethin’ called Atlantic Hockey. Sounds important, right? Lots of other colleges play in it too, I guess. They got a whole schedule, games lined up all season long. You can probably find it online somewhere, if you’re tech-savvy. Me? I just hear about it from my grandson. He’s always on that there internet thingamajig.
- They got a bunch of players, young fellers mostly.
- They skate real fast and hit that puck hard.
- They try to score more goals than the other team. That’s how you win, see?
I heard tell that Bentley used to play in a different league, Division II, but now they’re up in the big leagues. Must’ve worked real hard to get there. Good for them, I say. Shows what a little hard work can do. Reminds me of when I used to… well, never mind that now. This is about hockey, not my old bones.
This comin’ season, the 2024-25 season, will be their 48th. That’s a long time they been playin’ this hockey game. Must have a lot of history, and a lot of stories to tell. Wish I knew some of them, but I just hear bits and pieces, you know? Like how they got this new arena in 2018. Folks were real excited about that, I remember. Said it was gonna be a real nice place to watch a game. And it is, or so they say, with it bein’ right on the campus and all.
This Bentley University where they play, it’s up in Massachusetts, in a place called Waltham. I ain’t never been there, but I hear it’s a nice town. Probably got a lot of trees and such. And this arena, it’s right there on the campus, so the students can go watch the games easy. That’s smart, I reckon. Get them youngsters interested in hockey early.
They got a website too, where you can find all sorts of stuff about the team. The schedule, the players, the scores… all that jazz. My grandson, he checks it all the time. He even showed me some pictures once. Them boys look real serious in their uniforms. And that arena, it looks real fancy, all shiny and new.
So, there ya have it. That’s about all I know about Bentley hockey. It’s a bunch of fellers skatin’ on ice, hittin’ a puck, and tryin’ to win games. They play in a big league, got their own fancy arena, and a whole bunch of folks cheerin’ ’em on. Sounds like a good time to me, even if I don’t understand all the rules. But hey, as long as they’re havin’ fun and makin’ folks proud, that’s all that matters, right?
