Alright, listen up, you young whippersnappers! Let’s talk about this Billy Norcross fella and that hockey game he plays. Hockey, you know, that’s the one where they skate on the ice and smack a little puck around with them sticks. My grandson, he plays that too, but he ain’t no fancy pants like this Billy.
Now, they say this Billy, he’s from Lynn, Mass. That’s not too far from here, you know. I reckon he started young, chasing that puck around like a chicken with its head cut off. Probably skated on frozen ponds in the winter, just like the kids ’round here used to do before they got all caught up in them video games.
This Billy plays forward. That means he’s up there, in the thick of it, trying to score goals. He ain’t no goalie, that’s for sure. Goalies, they just stand there and get pucks thrown at ’em. Seems like a boring job to me. Billy, he’s out there where the action is, skating fast and passing the puck to his teammates.
- He played for the Penticton Vees, they say. Never heard of it, but sounds fancy.
- Now he’s at Northeastern University. Big school, lots of smarty pants there.
- They say he got some assists this season. That’s when you help someone else score, see? Not as good as scoring yourself, but it still counts.
They got all these numbers and stats about Billy. Says he was born in 2003. He’s just a young pup! And they say he played from 2020 to 2025. Guess he’s still playing then. Hope he’s eating his vegetables and staying out of trouble.
This Hockey East All-Academic Team thing, that sounds right fancy. Guess he’s good at school too, not just hockey. My grandson, he struggles with his sums. Maybe Billy can teach him a thing or two.
They talk about referees, too. Brad LeBlanc and Peter Schlittenhardt. Never heard of ’em. Probably got whistles and stripes and all that. Gotta keep them boys in line, you know. Can’t have ’em fighting on the ice. Though, sometimes a good scrap is fun to watch.
Billy wears number 19. That’s a good number. My lucky number is 7, but 19 ain’t bad. It’s a strong number. Means he’s a strong player, I reckon.
They played at Conte Forum, Kelley Rink, in Chestnut Hill, Mass. That’s a mouthful! Just call it the rink, I say. Make it simple. This fancy talk just confuses folks.
They talk about some fella named Ulf Sterner, a Swede who played in the NHL a long time ago. Don’t know what that has to do with Billy, but I guess hockey players gotta know their history. It’s like knowing where your roots are, see? My roots are right here, in this town, and I ain’t going nowhere.
Anyways, that’s all I know about this Billy Norcross fella. He seems like a good kid, plays hockey good, goes to school good. Hope he makes it big, makes his folks proud. Just like I’m proud of my grandson, even if he can’t skate as good as Billy.
