Okay, so I’ve been digging into Brazil basketball stats lately, and let me tell you, it’s a bit of a rabbit hole. I wanted to get a better handle on how the Brazilian teams and players are performing, you know, just for my own curiosity and maybe to win a few arguments with my friends.
Getting Started
First, I needed to find some data. I mean, where do you even start? I started with searching and tried a few general searches. I quickly realized I needed to be more specific.
Narrowing it Down
Then I specify the search, it became a lot clearer which were dedicated to Brazilian basketball.
Data Overload!
My next challenge? Figuring out what all these numbers meant! I found tables with abbreviations I’d never seen before.
- GP: I figured this one out pretty quick – Games Played.
- PTS: Points, obviously.
- REB: Rebounds… got it.
Putting It All Together
Once I started to understand the basic stats, I could start comparing players and teams. I looked at things like average points per game, rebound rates, and even tried to find some more advanced stats like Player Efficiency Rating (PER), though that got complicated fast.
I spent a good few hours just browsing through different websites and gathering stats. I made my own notes so I didn’t have to keep searching for same stat definitions.
It’s still a work in progress, I’m still collecting data, learning, and try to improve my skills about it.
