Hey everyone, it’s your girl back with another blog post. Today, I wanna share my little adventure getting into women’s tennis, specifically at Brown University. It all started when I stumbled upon some info online, and I just had to dive in.
So, first things first, I found out that Brown’s got some serious tennis action going on. They even mentioned that from October 10 to 15, Brown would be playing in the ITA Regionals in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I was like, “Okay, this is a big deal!” I made a note to myself to check it out later.
Then, I dug a bit deeper and discovered that Brown hosts their own home events too. I thought, “Heck yeah, I wanna see some live matches!” It felt pretty cool to know that they have a dedicated women’s tennis page on the Brown University Bears website. I guess I just love seeing women kill it in sports, you know?
Here’s where it got exciting.
- I found their schedule for the spring season.
- They’re kicking it off with two home matches!
- First up, they’re playing against Boston College on Monday, January 20 at 2 p.m.
- Then, a week later, they’re hosting Bryant on Saturday.
I immediately marked these dates on my calendar. I mean, who doesn’t love a good tennis match, right? Plus, it’s right here at Brown! I started getting pretty hyped about it and even thought about inviting some friends to go with me.
I also got a little curious about the coaching staff. I stumbled upon Lucie Schmidhauser’s name. She’s the women’s tennis coach at Brown. I wanted to know more about the team dynamics and all that good stuff. I learned that college tennis is actually a spring sport, starting in January and going until the national playoffs in May. It’s a pretty packed schedule if you think about it.
My Little “Investigation”
I spent a few days just browsing through whatever I could find online about Brown’s women’s tennis. It was kinda like my own little investigation. I was checking out player profiles, past match results, and even some social media posts. I even saw something about a national tennis championship, but it was for a different university, still exciting.
After a while, I decided to actually go to one of their matches. I remember it was a sunny Saturday, and the atmosphere was just electric. The players were so focused, and the crowd was super into it. I even managed to chat with a few people who seemed to know a lot about the team. They gave me some insider scoop on the players and their strategies.
From there, I just kept going to more matches. I became a regular, you could say. I even started recognizing some of the players and their playing styles. It felt like I was becoming part of the Brown tennis community, even though I was just a spectator. I made a few friends along the way who were just as passionate about it as I was.
This whole experience has been pretty awesome. It’s not just about watching tennis; it’s about being part of something bigger. It’s about supporting these amazing athletes and feeling that sense of community. I’m so glad I stumbled upon that random tidbit about Brown’s women’s tennis. It’s turned into a real passion of mine. I encourage everyone to check it out if you’re ever in the area. It is really cool!
