Okay, so today I wanted to try out playing some hockey. I’ve heard of this place called “Canterbury Hockey Club” so I thought I might give it a go. First off, I grabbed my old hockey stick from the garage, it was a bit dusty, but it still looked alright. Then I put on some comfy clothes that I could move around in easily.
I drove to the place and saw a big field with a bunch of people running around with sticks. I felt a little bit nervous at first, never really having played on a real team before. I walked over to a group that looked friendly, and I just straight up asked if I could join in. They were super nice about it, introduced me to a few people, and even lent me a spare jersey to wear.
Getting Started
- We started with some basic drills, passing the ball around and practicing hitting it towards the goal.
- I messed up a few times, but no one seemed to mind too much.
- After a while, they split us into teams and we started playing a proper game.
The game was way faster than I expected. People were running all over the place, and the ball was moving so quickly. I tried my best to keep up, and even managed to get a few hits in. There was this one time I nearly scored a goal, but the goalie blocked it at the last second. It was so close!
My First Hockey Game Experience
Even though I was completely exhausted by the end, I actually had a lot of fun. Everyone was so encouraging, even when I made mistakes. They gave me tips on how to hold the stick better and where to stand on the field. I definitely felt like I learned a lot in just one day.
After the game, a few of us sat around and chatted for a bit. They told me about the club and how they have different teams for different skill levels. It sounded pretty cool, and I’m thinking I might actually join up officially. It would be good to get some regular exercise, and it’s always fun to meet new people.
So yeah, that was my first time playing hockey at Canterbury. It was a bit of a workout, but totally worth it. I think I might have found a new hobby, who knew? Anyway, it is time for me to take a rest, see you next time!
