Alright, so, “columbus ice football,” that was a wild ride, let me tell you. I’d heard about this thing, some folks were doing it locally, playing football on ice, and I thought, “Why the heck not?” So, first thing I did was gather some buddies. I mean, you can’t play football by yourself, especially not on ice, right?
Next up, finding a rink. We called around, and lucky for us, the local community center had some open ice time. We booked it, no problem. Now, gearing up was the interesting part. We’re not talking full hockey gear, nah. We just grabbed our regular football pads, helmets, and some cleats. Though, someone had the bright idea to duct tape some old rags to the bottom of our shoes for, you know, a bit of extra traction. Looked ridiculous, but hey, it kinda worked.
- First, we got some friends together.
- Second, we located a rink and reserved it.
- Third, we gathered all our equipment.
- Lastly, we improvised some anti-slip shoes.
Getting on the ice was a whole other story. Ever tried running on ice with cleats? It’s like Bambi on ice, but with more yelling and falling. We must’ve looked like a bunch of clowns out there, slipping and sliding all over the place. But, we started tossing the ball around, trying to get a feel for it. Passing was a nightmare. You throw the ball, and then you start sliding in the opposite direction. Hilarious.
We decided to just go for it and play a game. Nothing serious, just a bit of fun. And let me tell you, it was chaos. Running plays was nearly impossible. You’d try to cut, and boom, you’re on your butt. But, you know what? We were laughing the whole time. We were falling, sliding, and just generally making fools of ourselves. But it was a blast.
The Final Score
Did we keep score? I think so, but honestly, it didn’t matter. We had a great time, got some exercise, and created some pretty funny memories. Would I do it again? Absolutely. Maybe with some better footwear next time, though. Or maybe not, the slipping and sliding was half the fun! This whole “columbus ice football” thing, it’s definitely something I’d recommend if you’re looking for a good laugh and a unique way to spend an afternoon.
