Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure of finding some decent basketball courts in Columbus, Ohio.
So, I moved to Columbus a few months back, and one of the first things I wanted to do was find a good spot to shoot some hoops. I’m no LeBron, but I enjoy a good game of pickup or just practicing my shots.
The Search Begins
I started, naturally, by hitting up the internet. I typed in the usual stuff, “basketball courts near me,” “Columbus Ohio basketball,” you get the idea. The results were, well, a bit of a mixed bag. Lots of parks listed, community centers, that kind of thing. But it was hard to tell which ones were actually any good.
Hitting the Pavement (and the Courts)
So, I decided the best way to find out was to just go check some places out myself. Old school, right? I grabbed my ball and headed out.
- First, I tried a park near my place. The court was there, alright, but the rims were bent, and the net was, let’s just say, “vintage.” Not ideal.
- Next, I checked out a community center. This one was better, the court was in decent shape, but it was indoor and you had to be a member. I was looking for something more casual.
- Then I remembered a friend mentioning a park a bit further out. I drove over, and bingo! This one was pretty good. Two full courts, decent rims, nets intact. A few people were already playing, which was a good sign.
My Findings
After trying a few more spots, I’ve got a couple of go-to places now. The park I mentioned is my favorite for a casual game. It’s usually not too crowded, and the people are pretty chill.
I’ve also found a couple of other decent outdoor courts, but it really was a case of trial and error. My advice? Don’t be afraid to just get out there and explore. You might be surprised at what you find! Sometimes the best courts are the ones you stumble upon. And hey, if you see a guy out there missing most of his shots, that might be me. Come say hi!
