Well, lemme tell ya, if you ever been around Creighton, you’d know it ain’t just a little ol’ school. It’s a place that’s done mighty good for its basketball players. Now, there’s this whole bunch of folks that done played ball there and moved on to some mighty big things, especially in the NBA. I heard they’ve had 31 players who got drafted, yup, 31! That’s a lot of folks, ain’t it? And some of ’em even made it into the first round, five of ‘em to be exact. Now, that’s something to be proud of! But, they ain’t all just sittin’ around. They’re out there makin’ big moves and representin’ Creighton in all kinds of ways.
Now, some of these players, you might recognize. Take Khyri Thomas, for instance. He’s out there playin’ for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel, a big ol’ team in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Then there’s Anthony Tolliver, who done played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA. Don’t forget about Maurice Watson, another Creighton alum, who’s makin’ waves over in the Israeli league too, playin’ for Maccabi Rishon LeZion. Ain’t that somethin’?
Creighton’s basketball history sure is rich. They’ve had some real strong seasons, too. 20 regular season championships and 12 conference tournament titles. That’s a lot of winning if you ask me. And they’ve been in the NCAA tournament 18 times. Can you imagine what that’s like, playin’ on that big ol’ stage with all them folks watchin’ from the stands?
But don’t think Creighton’s just about the players who went pro. Oh no, sir. There’s been all kinds of folks who got their start there and went on to do big things, far beyond basketball. There’s over 77,000 alumni out there, spread all over the world, and they’re all doin’ their part to make a difference. Whether it’s in social justice or just bein’ good people, they sure make an impact.
And if you think they’re just sittin’ back and relaxin’, you’d be wrong. Nope, Creighton’s still got their eyes on the prize, especially this year. They’ve been workin’ hard to get ready for the 2024-25 season. Things are lookin’ real good, with a couple nationally-ranked teams comin’ up. If you’re in the area, they’re even hostin’ events all over the country to get folks together, from alumni to fans, to celebrate all things Creighton basketball.
If you’ve never heard of Jahenns Manigat, well, he’s one of the proud alumni, graduated back in 2014. He’s one of the many folks who’re out there pushin’ for Creighton to stay on top of the basketball world. They sure know how to put on a show.
Now, you might be thinkin’ it’s all just about the players and the wins, but there’s a whole lot more to it than that. Creighton’s a school that values each and every one of its students, and even after they leave, they’re still part of the big ol’ Creighton family. They ain’t just lookin’ at the scoreboard, they’re lookin’ at what kind of folks they’re turnin’ out to be. Ain’t that somethin’?
So, if you ever get a chance to watch a Creighton game or maybe even meet one of these alumni, you’ll see just how much heart they put into it. From the players to the fans, everybody’s part of something special. And trust me, when you see them on the court, you’ll know—Creighton’s got something that keeps ‘em comin’ back for more, year after year.
Well, that’s all I got for now. But don’t forget, if you’re lookin’ to learn more about these players and their journey, you can always look up Creighton basketball history. There’s plenty more where that came from!
