Okay, so I wanted to keep better track of the basketball league standings in Puerto Rico, you know, the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). It’s always fun to see how the teams are doing, but finding the updated standings wasn’t always easy. So, I decided to do something about it myself.
My Little Project Begins
First, I started by looking around online for websites that might have the info. I mean, there’s gotta be something official, right? I found a few sites, but they were either outdated or just plain confusing to navigate.
Gathering the Data (The Hard Part)
Since I couldn’t find one perfect source, I decided I’d have to pull the data together myself. I visited a couple of different sports news sites that cover the BSN. I figured if I could get the game results from a few reliable places, I could piece together the standings on my own.
- I looked for sites that had clear win/loss records for each team.
- I also made note of the dates of the games, just to make sure I was getting the most recent information.
- It was a bit of a pain, honestly, clicking through different pages and copying down scores.
Putting It All Together
Once I had a bunch of recent game results, I opened up a simple spreadsheet. I created columns for the team names, wins, losses, and winning percentage. I started plugging in the data I had collected, doing the math to calculate the percentages. That was actually the easy part!
I typed in all team names, and input scores from the games I found. Then, with simple formulas, the winning percentage revealed, I was so excited!
Keeping It Updated
Now, this isn’t a one-time thing. To keep the standings accurate, I have to keep checking for new game results and updating my spreadsheet. I try to do this a couple of times a week, usually after the weekend games.
It’s a little bit of work, but it’s worth it to have the standings readily available whenever I want to check in on the league. Plus, it’s kind of satisfying to build something myself, even if it’s just a simple spreadsheet. It beats relying on those clunky websites!
I am very satisfied with my work, although I know it is not the best method, it really helped me to get the standings without problem, and it was something I could do by myself!
