Well, you know, lots of them boys runnin’ around with their bouncing balls, they switchin’ teams like they switchin’ socks. Heard tell more than a thousand of ’em, over 1,300 I think they said, all movin’ ’round like ants at a picnic. They got this thing, a list they call it, somethin’ about a “portal,” like a magic door or somethin’. This “portal” list, it’s got all the names of them boys who wanna play for someone else. Says where they was and where they goin’ now. Lots of movin’ and shakin’, I tell ya.
Folks been chirpin’ ’bout them Dayton boys. Heard they got a whole bunch lookin’ to go elsewhere. That boy Nate Santos, he up and decided he wanted out, just like that. Then Mustapha Amzil, he gone too. And Zimi Nwokeji, he’s another one. Seems like they all leavin’ the nest, flyin’ off like birds in the fall. Wonder what got into ’em?
- Nate Santos – Just up and left, they say.
- Mustapha Amzil – Followed right after, like he was taggin’ along.
- Zimi Nwokeji – Jumped ship too, they tell me.
Now, they sayin’ there’s talk about other boys comin’ to Dayton. Heard ’bout this Taran Armstrong feller, plays guard they say. He’s a big one, 6 foot 6 they say. Probably tall as a corn stalk in July. Joe Tipton, whoever he is, he’s the one spreadin’ the word, sayin’ Dayton’s lookin’ at him. Who knows if it’s true, these folks always talkin’.
Heard somethin’ ’bout one of them boys bein’ real good at throwin’ that ball in the hoop from far away. Made a hundred of ’em, they said, and half the time he threw it, it went in! Imagine that! That’s like throwin’ rocks at a tin can and hittin’ it every other time. Pretty good, I reckon. Don’t know his name though, these names all sound the same to me.
Anyways, they got this list, this “transfer portal” thing, and it’s got all the boys’ names on it. Some of them just signin’ up for a little while, like they’re testin’ the waters or somethin’. They got ratings too, like they’re prize cows at the county fair. “Elite Verified,” they call some of ’em. Fancy words, don’t mean nothin’ to me.
So, there you have it. Lots of them basketball boys movin’ ’round, changin’ teams like they changin’ clothes. Dayton’s got some leavin’, might have some comin’ too. Who knows what’ll happen? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see where they all end up. Just like waitin’ for the crops to come in, gotta be patient.
2023 Dayton Flyers Basketball Team Transfers List, they call it. Guess it’s a big deal for some folks. Just a bunch of boys playin’ with a ball, if you ask me. But hey, keeps ’em outta trouble, right?
