Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with creating a logo, I had this idea for “Destroyers Football.” Let’s see how I did, step-by-step.
Brainstorming and Sketching
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil. I always start analog, feels more natural. I started jotting down some ideas. What comes to mind when I think “Destroyers”?
- Something powerful, obviously.
- Maybe aggressive?
- Definitely dynamic.
I sketched a few rough concepts. A lightning bolt? Too cliché. A fist? Nah. Then I started playing with the idea of a stylized, abstract shape that could suggest both speed and force, and finally, a charging bull combined with a football shape.
Digital Creation
Alright, time to go digital. I opened up my design software and started a new file, I usually do this. I decided to make it a nice and big so I don’t have to do this later.
Then I created some basic shapes, I chose a powerful dark-red and a strong grey for primary and secondary colors. I added a simple, bold font for “DESTROYERS”. Nothing fancy, just something that looks solid and dependable.
Refining and Tweaking
This part always takes the longest. I spent a good amount of time just nudging things around, playing with the curves, adjusting the spacing. I probably made about twenty tiny variations, trying different thicknesses for the lines, different angles for the, uh, “pointy bits”.
I also experimented with adding some subtle gradients, just to give it a little bit of depth. Nothing too crazy, just a hint of shadow and highlight. I wanted it to look good, but not overly polished – kind of like a rough-and-tumble football team, you know?
Finalizing and Exporting
Finally, I think I got something I liked. It’s not perfect, but it captures the feeling I was going for. Strong, dynamic, and just a little bit intimidating. I exported it as a file, and also saved a version with a transparent background.
It’s a fun way to start my idea and see how to present a cool and powerful image.
