You know, folks, I’ve heard a lot about this Family Circle Tennis Center down in Charleston, South Carolina. Ain’t never been there myself, but I got some folks who been. Now, they say it’s a real nice place to play tennis, whether you’re just gettin’ started or you been playin’ for years. It’s open to the public, so anyone can head down there and give it a try.
It’s located at 161 Seven Farms Drive, Charleston, and I reckon you can’t miss it. From what I hear, it’s a good spot for folks who love the game of tennis. You know, they got all the modern comforts and amenities to make your time there nice and easy. They didn’t skimp on anything, it sounds like. They got everything you need, from the courts to the seats, to make sure you feel right at home. And, if you’re like me and just want to sit back and watch the game, you can do that too, real comfy-like.
Now, I’ve heard about this big ol’ tournament they got down there too, called the Charleston Open. This here is a big deal for the women’s tennis world. Been goin’ on since 1973, and they say it’s the oldest professional all-women’s tournament in the whole dang country! I’d say that’s somethin’ to be proud of. And it’s not just a little ol’ backyard match, neither. They got a big purse, $888,636, to be exact. Ain’t that somethin’! That’s some serious prize money for those ladies.
The place has changed a lot over the years, folks. It used to be called the Volvo Tennis Stadium, but now they call it Credit One Stadium. Got a new owner, a feller by the name of Ben Navarro. I don’t know him personally, but folks say he’s a big entrepreneur down there in Charleston. From what I gather, he’s real passionate about makin’ tennis a bigger deal in the Lowcountry, which is good for all of us who enjoy watchin’ and playin’ the game.
Ben’s company, Navarro Group, is behind the changes, so you know they’re doin’ things right. From what I can tell, they’ve put a lot of effort into expanding the place, makin’ it more welcoming, and really growin’ the sport around Charleston. I hear the stadium’s bigger and better than ever, with more room for folks to watch the action. If you ask me, it sounds like the folks who run this place really care about tennis and want to make sure it’s somethin’ the whole community can enjoy.
If you’re thinkin’ about headin’ down to Charleston, whether it’s for the tournament or just to play a few rounds yourself, I’d say go ahead and check out the Family Circle Tennis Center. It’s a place where you can enjoy a good game of tennis, feel like a part of the community, and maybe even catch a match or two from some of the top women players in the world. They got the modern comforts, they got the history, and they sure got the heart for the game. So, what are you waitin’ for? Grab your racket and head on down!
