Jared, he’s from Brooklyn, New York, born in July of ’74. Went to the University of Pennsylvania, got himself a degree in 1996, and started his career in tennis right after. Now, he’s workin’ with Danielle, and it looks like things are goin’ pretty well. He knows how to handle a player with fire like Danielle. They got a real good relationship, with her determination and his know-how, they make a great team.
But it ain’t just Jared who’s been around. David Collins, that’s Danielle’s father, has been a big part of her journey too. He’s the one that passed down that competitive streak to her. You can tell, Danielle didn’t get to where she is today just on talent alone, but by workin’ hard and diggin’ deep when things got tough. That fire inside her’s been burnin’ for years, and David’s the one who stoked it from the start.
Now, y’all might’ve heard about Danielle’s little deal with New Balance. Well, that one came to an end, but that didn’t slow her down none. She’s still pushin’ forward, still out there fightin’ for those titles. That’s the thing with Danielle, she don’t let no contract or sponsorship get in the way of her game. She’s got that mentality that the only thing that matters is what happens on that court. And let me tell ya, she’s made a name for herself, that’s for sure.
Speaking of coaches, did you know there’s a man down in Florida named Maxwell who coaches both men’s and women’s tennis at Eckerd College? Yeah, I heard he’s been makin’ a name for himself too, workin’ with all sorts of players. But that’s a whole different story, ain’t it? We’re talkin’ about Danielle right now, and let me tell ya, she’s done her share of work with some top-notch coaches, no doubt.
