Okay, so today I decided to dive into something a bit different than usual – the world of Drexel Women’s Tennis. I’ve been following college sports for a while now, but mostly the big-name stuff. I figured it was time to branch out, and Drexel’s team caught my eye.
First, I went ahead and browsed through some basic info about Drexel’s athletic program. Turns out, they’re a Division I school and part of the Colonial Athletic Association. They’ve got over 470 student-athletes in 18 different sports. That’s pretty impressive! I always wonder how these kids manage to balance academics and athletics. I mean that must be very tough.
Then, I focused on the women’s tennis team. I started with the roster for the 2024-25 season. They have it laid out pretty clearly. I saw they have a list view and a card view for the players. I spent a bit of time just getting familiar with the names and faces.
After that, I checked out their schedule. They have a button to “add to calendar” which is cool. They also have a text-only view, which is good for a quick look. It looks like they’ve got a busy season ahead. I noticed they had some sort of successful first weekend of the fall season mentioned in a video on Facebook. I only watched a bit, but it seemed pretty lively.
Next, I tried to find some recent news about the team. I stumbled upon an article mentioning they extended their winning streak to 8 with a 4-0 win over Duquesne. That’s awesome! Winning streaks are always exciting to follow. Then, I got a little sidetracked reading about Serena Williams, who is just a legend in women’s tennis. 23 Grand Slam titles! It’s crazy to think about the level of dedication and skill that requires.
Finally, I realized I should probably wrap things up. It was cool to learn about the Drexel Women’s Tennis team and their recent successes. I might start following them more closely this season. It’s always fun to support a new team and see how they progress throughout the year.
Overall, it was a pretty chill afternoon of exploration. It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of professional sports, but there’s a whole world of college athletics out there that’s just as interesting. I think I’ll do this more often – pick a random team and just learn about them.
