Okay, so today I wanna talk about my recent experience with trying to learn tennis, specifically inspired by this dude, Dylan Martin. I saw some videos of him playing and I thought, “Hey, that looks fun, maybe I should give it a go!”
First thing I did was get myself a racket. Didn’t go too crazy, just a decent one from a sports store. Then I found a local court that I could use. It was a bit rundown, but hey, it had a net and lines, so it was good enough for a newbie like me.
Getting Started
- Day 1: I mostly just tried hitting the ball against the wall. Not as easy as it looks! My arms were pretty sore after just an hour.
- Day 2: Tried to practice my serve. Watched a couple of YouTube videos for tips. Ended up hitting the net more often than not.
- Day 3: Found a friend who was willing to play with me. We had some rallies, which was super fun, even though I lost most points.
I kept at it for a few more days, trying to improve my forehand and backhand. It’s tough, man! Tennis is way harder than it looks on TV. But I found that the more I played, the better I got, even if it was just a little bit.
Feeling Progress
- Day 7: Managed to win a few points against my friend. Felt like a total champ!
- Day 10: My serves started to actually go over the net and land in the service box. It was a miracle!
- Day 14: Had a longer rally with my friend, like 10 shots back and forth. We were both pretty stoked about that.
After a couple of weeks, I wouldn’t say I’m good at tennis, not by a long shot. But I’m definitely better than when I started. I can actually hit the ball now and have a decent game with a friend. It’s a great workout, and it’s actually pretty fun once you get the hang of it.
So, that’s my little tennis journey so far. Inspired by Dylan Martin, I took the plunge and gave it a try. It’s been challenging, frustrating at times, but ultimately rewarding. I’m gonna keep practicing, and who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to play a proper match without embarrassing myself too much!
