Okay, so I gotta tell you about this Fairfield County Men’s Tennis League thing I’ve been doing. It’s been quite the experience, let me tell you.
It all started when I wanted to get some more tennis in my life, you know? And it was actually pretty simple to start. I looked around and found out that there are a ton of tennis leagues in Fairfield, Connecticut, like, 41 of them! So, I started searching, trying to find one that fits.
Then I heard about this Fairfield County Men’s Tennis League. It seemed like a pretty big deal. I saw that some clubs, like the Italian Center, even had seven teams in the league. Roxbury fields had four teams in this league, and three teams in the Master’s 50+ 60+ league, and there is also an Easton Racquet Club participating in the league. That’s a lot of tennis!
I decided to give it a shot. Signed up, got placed on a team, and bam, I was in. The season kicks off around October 19-20. I made sure to check that out, didn’t wanna miss the start.
Now, the matches are mostly on Wednesday evenings. At first, it was a bit tough, getting used to the competition and all. The other guys, they’re pretty good. No walk in the park, that’s for sure. But I kept at it, you know? Practiced my serves, worked on my backhand, the whole nine yards. Had to really work hard for it.
- First few matches? Rough. Got my butt kicked a few times.
- Started to get the hang of it. Won a few, lost a few. It’s a learning curve.
- Now? I feel like I’m holding my own. Still working hard, still trying to improve.
The best part? It’s not just about the tennis. It’s the whole experience. Meeting new people, getting some exercise, and just having a good time. It’s a great way to spend a Wednesday evening.
So yeah, that’s my story about the Fairfield County Men’s Tennis League. It’s been a challenge, but a good one. If you’re in the area and looking for some tennis action, I’d definitely recommend checking it out. You might just surprise yourself.
Would I do it again?
Absolutely. It’s been a blast. And hey, maybe I’ll see you on the court sometime!
