Okay, so, I’ve been seeing these football medical tents pop up all over the place lately. You know, those little blue tents they set up on the sidelines of football games? I got curious, so I decided to look into them a bit more. At first, I just observed them for a bit, and then, I decided to try and build one of my own. It started as a silly idea. Thought maybe I could use it for camping or something. This might seem like a silly idea, but you should follow along to see what I did.
Observations
First thing I did was watch a bunch of games. Not just NFL, but college games, high school games, you name it. I just started paying more attention to these tents, the ones in the big games, the smaller games, and anywhere I could. I checked out a bunch of pictures online too. I wanted to see how they were put together, how big they were, and what they were made of.

- I tried to see what materials were used.
The DIY Project
Then came the fun part – trying to build one myself. I’m no engineer, so this was a bit of a challenge. I started by sketching out a basic design. It wasn’t anything fancy, just a simple frame with a cover. Once I found some materials I got started.
Gathering Supplies
For the frame, I went to the local hardware store and picked up some PVC pipes. They’re cheap, light, and easy to work with. For the cover, I found a big blue tarp. It wasn’t exactly the same material as the real tents, but it was close enough and did the job.
Building the Frame
Next, I started cutting the PVC pipes to the right lengths. I used a simple handsaw, nothing special. Then, I connected the pipes using some PVC fittings. It was like putting together a giant puzzle. I made sure the frame was sturdy enough to stand on its own. The frame stood about 6 feet tall with a rectangular base of about 4×5 feet.
Adding the Cover
Once the frame was built, I draped the tarp over it. I used some zip ties to secure the tarp to the frame. I made sure to leave an opening on one side so I could get in and out. I also used some ropes and tied the tarp down to the ground so it didn’t blow away.
The Result
And there you have it – my very own football medical tent. It wasn’t perfect, but it looked pretty darn close to the real thing. I even set it up in my backyard a few times. I gotta say, it was a pretty cool feeling to sit inside and imagine I was on the sidelines of a big game. Of course, it did not actually help anyone who might be injured, but it sure was fun to do! I learned a lot and I think you could do this too, if you wanted to. It was a fun project, and I’m glad I did it.
