Hey everyone, so I’ve been getting into tennis lately, and I stumbled upon the Fordham men’s tennis team. I decided to dig a little deeper and see what they’re all about.
First off, I started by checking out their official page. You know, just to get a feel for the team and see their schedule and stuff. It’s cool to see they’re part of the Atlantic 10 Conference, playing in NCAA Division I. That’s a pretty big deal, right?
Then, I got curious about how one might join the team. Turns out, it’s not just about being good at tennis. You gotta start building relationships and get yourself noticed. They had this line about it being a “highly-visible” thing, which makes sense.
I also read about some of their recent matches. They had a close one against Hofstra, winning 4-3, and then they totally crushed Drew 7-0. Sounds like they’ve got some serious game! They also won a match at nearby Queens College, they are really on a roll.
Their roster for 2024-25 is up online too. I browsed through it, seeing all the players. I wonder how the coaches decide who gets to play in each match. Must be tough with so many talented guys.
Speaking of coaches, I saw that Mike Sowter is one of their coaches. Seems like he knows his stuff, always putting together a competitive team. They mentioned he has some key players to replace, but hopefully he will find suitable replacement.

Oh, and apparently, Fordham offers athletic scholarships for tennis. That’s pretty awesome for those student-athletes. They’ve got this Fordham Club Tennis too, started in 2013, which is more of a community thing but still competitive. It’s all about promoting athleticism in an encouraging environment, which I think is super important. I hope I can get one of those scholarships.
So yeah, that’s my little deep dive into Fordham men’s tennis. It’s been fun learning about them. Maybe I’ll try to catch one of their matches sometime.
