Well, let me tell ya, this Fort Valley State football, it’s somethin’ else, you know? Folks get all riled up about them scores. I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I can tell ya when they win, the whole town’s buzzin’ like a beehive. And when they lose? Well, it’s quieter than a church mouse in here.
I remember this one time, they was playin’ against, uh… I can’t rightly recall the name, some college team or other. Anyway, the score was somethin’ fierce, back and forth, like a couple of ol’ hens fightin’ over a scrap of bread. Folks was yellin’, stompin’ their feet, and wavin’ them flags. Heck, I even spilled my sweet tea, I was so worked up! But wouldn’t you know it, our boys pulled it off in the end. Victory! That’s what they called it. And the whole town celebrated like it was the Fourth of July.
Now, I ain’t got no fancy TV or nothin’, so I mostly hear about the scores from my grandson. He’s always glued to that phone of his, lookin’ up the Fort Valley State Wildcats. Says they got a website and all. Can you believe it? A whole website just for football! He tells me the scores, and sometimes he even shows me pictures. Them boys are big, I tell ya, big as houses! And fast too, like greased lightnin’.
- They run and they jump and they throw that ball. It’s a sight to see, even on that little phone screen.
- And the points, oh the points! Sometimes they score a whole bunch, and sometimes it’s just a few. But every point counts, that’s what my grandson says.
- And them other teams, they ain’t no slouches neither. They come to play, and they give our boys a run for their money. That’s what makes it excitin’, you see. Nobody wants to watch a game where one team just stomps all over the other. It’s gotta be a fight, a real barn burner!
Just the other day, my grandson was tellin’ me ’bout a game against Albany State. Said it was a close one, real nail-biter. The score was somethin’ like 20 to 15, I think. Fort Valley lost that one, if I recall right. My grandson was all glum, but I told him, “Don’t you fret none, boy. They’ll get ’em next time.” You gotta have a thick skin for this football business, that’s for sure.
Then there was that game against Morehouse College. Now, that was a different story! My grandson said the Wildcats just went wild. Scored somethin’ like 42 points! The other team only got 20. Now that’s what I call a whoppin’! I bet them Morehouse folks went home lickin’ their wounds after that one.
And Homecoming? Don’t even get me started on Homecoming! That’s when the whole town goes hog wild. There’s parades, and barbecues, and of course, the big game. This year, they played Allen University, and it was a real shootout. My grandson said the final score was somethin’ like 49 to 40. Can you believe that? Almost a hundred points scored in one game! Folks was cheerin’ so loud, I bet they could hear ’em all the way in Atlanta. And the Wildcats, they won! Made for a mighty fine Homecoming, let me tell ya.
So, if you’re lookin’ for the Fort Valley State football score, you can go ask my grandson. He probably knows it by heart. Or you can go online, I guess, if you’re fancy like that. But me? I’ll just wait for the news to spread through town. It always does, you know. Word of mouth is still the best way to hear things, if you ask me. And when them Wildcats win, you can bet your bottom dollar, everyone will be talkin’ about it.
