Alright, so I wanted to come up with some cool award ideas for my kid’s flag football league. We’re talking about a bunch of 8-10-year-olds, so nothing too serious, just fun stuff to make them feel good about playing.
First, I brainstormed a list of all the things these kids do during a game. You know, running, catching, throwing, flag-pulling. Then I thought about the different personalities on the team. Some kids are super fast, some are great at teamwork, others are just always smiling and having a blast.
Award Categories
Based on my observations, I started jotting down some award categories. Here’s what I came up with:
- Speed Demon: For the fastest runner, obviously.
- Golden Hands: For the kid who catches everything.
- The Rocket: Best thrower in the league.
- Flag Master: This one’s for the kid who’s a flag-pulling ninja.
- Team Player: For the one who’s always helping others and being a good sport.
- Sunshine Award: For the kid who’s always positive and encouraging.
- Most Improved: This one’s important, for the player who showed the most growth during the season.
- Ball Handler: For the player with best ability to control the ball.
Next, I wanted to make the awards themselves. I didn’t want to spend a fortune, so I hit up the dollar store. I found some plastic trophies and medals, and a bunch of fun, colorful ribbons.
Then I got my own kids involved. We printed out little certificates with each award name and a space for the player’s name. We decorated the trophies and medals with the ribbons, added some glitter glue, the whole nine yards.
Finally, we had a little end-of-season party. I made sure every kid got an award. It was awesome seeing their faces light up when they got their personalized trophy or medal. The kids were thrilled and the end of the season party became the best part of the season.
Honestly, it was a blast putting this together, and it made the end of the flag football season extra special for everyone. If you’re looking for a way to make your kid’s sports experience more memorable, I highly recommend doing something like this.
