Okay, so let’s talk about what happened when I tried out for the Marist tennis club.
First off, I found out that they meet up at the East Campus Tennis Pavilion. Apparently, it’s over near the Steel Plant and Allied Health Buildings. That’s the first thing I wrote down, I needed to know where to go.
I also saw something about the Marist track and field teams announcing their schedule for next year. They’ve got like 10 meets lined up, including some big championships. I guess Marist is pretty serious about their sports, ’cause they mentioned being a Division I school, and how their “Red Foxes” keep doing well year after year.
Then I dug a bit deeper and found some stuff about a tennis player, Jannik Sinner, who became the first Italian guy to win something big, beating another player named Taylor Fritz. That doesn’t really help me with joining the Marist club, but it’s pretty cool, I guess. Shows that tennis can be a big deal.
- Find the location: East Campus Tennis Pavilion.
- Check out the sports scene: Marist is a Division I school, so the competition is probably tough.
- Get inspired?: Found out about a big tennis win by Jannik Sinner.
Finally, I found a page about the Marist Red Foxes team, with results and rankings and stuff. I figured that’s where I would find more specific info about the tennis club, like who to contact or when the tryouts are.
My Game Plan
So, my next steps were pretty straightforward. I needed to get in touch with someone from the tennis club to figure out the details, like how to officially join, what gear I might need, and if there are any fees. I also want to know what the skill level is like. I don’t want to show up and be totally out of my league, but I also don’t want it to be too easy. A good challenge would be nice.
And that’s where I’m at right now. I’m excited to get out on the court and see what Marist tennis is all about.
