Okay, so I’ve been meaning to check out this HockeyMonkey Superstore in Woodbridge for a while now. I’ve heard good things, and my old skates are practically falling apart. So, today was the day!
Getting There
First things first, I had to figure out where exactly this place was. I fired up my phone and searched online. Got the address, punched it into my GPS, and hit the road. It was a bit of a drive, maybe 30 minutes or so, but nothing too crazy.
Stepping Inside
When I walked in, wow! This place is HUGE. I mean, seriously, it’s like a warehouse filled with hockey gear. I’ve never seen so much stuff in one place. Sticks, skates, helmets, protective gear, jerseys… you name it, they had it. My first impression was that this is way better than the local shop I usually frequent.
Browsing Around
I started by just wandering around, taking it all in. I’m a visual person. I checked out the stick section first. They had all the big brands – Bauer, CCM, Warrior, True – and tons of different models and flexes. I even saw a few pro stock sticks, which was pretty cool. I was looking and touching everything.
Next, I moved on to the skates. Holy moly, the selection was insane. Again, all the major brands, plus different fits and price ranges. I saw some families get help from the workers to get their kids setup.
Getting Some Help
After browsing for a bit, I decided to get some help. I was thinking I needed to talk to someone to get some actual help. I flagged down one of the employees, a guy in his 30s. He was super helpful, asking me about my playing style, skill level, and budget. He didn’t try to upsell me or anything, which was a relief.
- I told him what kind of skates I’m looking for.
- He measured my feet using that special machine.
- He asked about how often I skate.
Trying Things On
Based on our conversation, he grabbed a few different pairs of skates for me to try on. I spent a good hour trying on different skates, walking around the store, and getting a feel for them. The employee was patient and kept bringing me different sizes and models until I found a pair that felt perfect.
Making a Decision
Finally, I settled on a pair of CCM skates. They felt great, and the price was right. I also grabbed a new stick and some tape while I was at it. I figured, why not? It was great to finally be able to hold the sticks and get a good feel, as opposed to just looking online.
Checking Out
The checkout process was smooth and easy. The cashier was friendly, and I was out the door in no time. All in all, a really successful trip to the HockeyMonkey Superstore. I’m very satisfied with my purchase. I am excited to go on the ice the next time with my new gear.
If you’re a hockey player in the area, I definitely recommend checking this place out. It’s worth the trip!
