Okay, so I wanted to catch the Cushing hockey game the other night. My nephew’s playing this year, and I couldn’t make it down to the rink. Figured, hey, it’s 2024, there’s gotta be a live stream, right?
First thing I did, naturally, was just search online. Typed in something like “Cushing Academy hockey live stream” and started digging through the results. Lots of stuff came up, mostly links to the school’s main site or general sports pages.
My Search Process
So, I navigated over to the official Cushing athletics page. That seemed like the most logical place. I spent a good bit of time clicking around there.
- Looked for a ‘Watch Live’ button. Didn’t see one immediately.
- Checked the hockey team’s specific page. Found schedules, rosters, news… but streaming info was kinda hidden, if it was there at all.
- Scanned the schedule page again, hoping maybe there’d be a little video icon next to the game listing. No dice.
Then I remembered sometimes schools use third-party platforms for their streams. You know, those websites dedicated to high school sports broadcasting. I tried searching for Cushing on a couple of the big ones I know about. Found the school profile on one, but the hockey game wasn’t listed on their broadcast schedule. Bit frustrating.
Hitting Some Walls
I went back to the school’s athletics site and dug deeper. Found an old news post mentioning streaming for a previous season, but the details seemed outdated. It mentioned a specific portal, but I couldn’t find a current link that worked. It felt like I was going in circles.
I even tried searching on social media, thinking maybe the team’s account or a fan page might post a link. Found some game updates and photos, which was nice, but no live video feed info surfaced. It’s surprising how hard this can be sometimes.
The Outcome
After about 20 minutes of this, getting close to puck drop, I stumbled upon a small link buried on a general ‘school news’ page, not even the athletics section. It led to a platform I hadn’t checked yet. Success! Well, sort of.
Turned out it was a subscription service. Not crazy expensive for a month, but still, a bit annoying when I just wanted this one game. Since I’d already invested the time and really wanted to see my nephew play, I went ahead and signed up. The stream quality itself was decent, not amazing HD, but clear enough to follow the action. Could hear the sounds of the rink, which was pretty cool.
So, yeah, I managed to watch it in the end. But it definitely took more digging than I expected. You’d think they’d make it a bit more prominent, you know? Put a big button on the main athletics page. Anyway, mission accomplished, just took some persistence.
