Okay, so I spent some time digging into Ezekiel Clark’s tennis recently. Wasn’t really a planned thing, just sort of happened. I was looking at some upcoming players and his name popped up, so I thought, alright, let’s see what this guy’s about.
First thing I did was pull up some recent match footage. Not highlights, you don’t learn much from those. I wanted full matches, or at least extended clips, to see the flow, the errors, the body language between points. Settled down with my usual setup – just me, the screen, and a notepad. Old school, I know, but it works for me.
Started watching his service games. His motion seemed pretty fluid, not too much wasted energy. Definitely noticed he can hit his spots when he’s feeling it. Saw a few aces out wide, particularly on the deuce court. The second serve looked decent too, got some kick on it, wasn’t just rolling it in. Made a note: “Serve can be a weapon, needs consistency under pressure.”
Then I focused on his baseline game. Watched how he constructed points. His forehand caught my eye. He can flatten it out and hit it big when he gets time. Saw him hit some clean winners with it. The backhand, mostly a two-hander from what I saw, looked solid enough for rallies, maybe not quite the same penetration as the forehand? Jotted down: “Forehand = main offensive groundstroke. Backhand = steady.”
Movement was the next thing. How does he cover the court? Seemed pretty quick, actually. Good first step. Watched him defend out wide, saw some decent scrambling. Transitioning forward? Maybe saw less of that, seemed more comfortable staying back, but hard to tell from just a couple of matches.
Quick Observations Logged
- Got some real power, especially on the serve and forehand side.
- Moves well around the baseline.
- Seems to compete hard, saw him fight back in a few games.
- Consistency, like with many players, seems key. Saw patches where errors crept in.
- Return game needs more observation, didn’t get a great feel for it yet.
Spent maybe an afternoon on this, just watching, rewinding sometimes, making little notes. It’s always interesting to break down a player’s game piece by piece. You see their strengths, where they might struggle. It’s not about being critical, just about observing what’s happening on the court. You get a feel for their patterns, their go-to shots.
So yeah, that was my little dive into Ezekiel Clark’s tennis based on what I could see. Just recording my process here. He’s definitely got the tools. Like always, it’s about putting it all together consistently, match after match. Will keep an eye on his results.
