Alright, so I was browsing around, trying to figure out if St. Lawrence University’s tennis program was any good. You know, just curious. I didn’t have any grand plans or anything, just poking around the internet.
Digging for Info
First, I hit up their official athletics website. You know, the usual stuff – schedules, rosters, coach bios. Looked through some of the player profiles, tried to get a feel for their recent records. Nothing really jumped out at me, to be honest. It all seemed pretty standard.
Then, I figured I’d check out some independent rankings and forums. You know, see what the real tennis nuts were saying. I stumbled across a couple of discussion threads, but there wasn’t a ton of chatter about St. Lawrence specifically. More general talk about Division III tennis, that kind of thing.
Checking Out the Competition
I decided to take a look at their conference, the Liberty League. I figured, if the conference is strong overall, that probably says something about St. Lawrence’s program, right? So, I checked out some of the other schools in the league, saw how they were doing. Again, nothing that really blew me away.
Watching Some Matches
Next, I went to Youtube. It is a good way to find game video. Luckily, I found some match, so I started to watch how they played.
My Takeaway
So, after all that digging, what’s my conclusion? Well, it’s hard to say definitively. They seem like a solid, respectable DIII program. Nothing amazing, but certainly not bad. I guess “good” is kind of subjective, right? They’re probably not going to be churning out pro players, but it seems like a decent place to play some competitive college tennis.
