Hey everyone, today I wanna share something I did that was pretty cool. I’ve been getting into sports more lately, and I decided to check out the Rider University women’s tennis team. It’s not exactly the pros, but hey, it’s local and it’s Division I, so I figured why not?
So, I went to their website, you know, the one for Rider University Athletics. They call it GoBroncs, which I guess is their thing. It had all the usual stuff, schedules, player profiles, and news updates. I spent some time reading up on the team. They’ve got players from all over, which is interesting. It’s not just a bunch of local kids; it’s a real mix.
Watching the Matches
I managed to catch a couple of their matches. One was against Siena, and unfortunately, they lost that one 6-1. But, there was this one player, Leila Koster, who actually won both her singles and doubles matches. She’s from Georgia, goes to Rivers Academy, from what I read. She played pretty well, even though the team didn’t win overall.
Then, there was another match, or maybe it was a series of matches, where they said the team “split MAAC matches”. I’m not sure what that means, but it sounds like they won some and lost some. I guess that’s better than losing all of them, right?
Digging Deeper
I got a little curious, so I looked them up on social media. Found their Twitter, they call it RiderTennis. They post updates and stuff there. Not a ton of followers, a little over a thousand, but it’s something. They also mentioned they’re part of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, which I’d never heard of before.
Then I found something about the team wrapping up their fall season at something called the “Lehigh Hidden Duals.” They said it was a “successful day.” Again, no idea what that means, but it sounds positive.
Looking at the Team
Back on the GoBroncs website, I checked out the team roster. They have a whole list of players, their stats, and where they’re from. It’s kind of cool to see where everyone comes from and how they ended up at Rider. They’ve also got this thing called “Rider’s NIL Platform.” No clue what that is, but it sounds important.
I also found a list of their coaches. It’s not just one person; it looks like a whole team of people supporting the players. They have different roles, like strength and conditioning, which I guess makes sense. You need to be in good shape to play tennis, I’m sure.
Overall Impression
So, that was my little adventure into the world of Rider University women’s tennis. It was fun to learn about a local team and see them play. It’s not the same as watching, say, Serena Williams, who, by the way, is like the greatest ever, but it’s still cool. These players are working hard, and it’s neat to see that up close. I might go to another match sometime. It’s a good way to spend an afternoon, and who knows, maybe I’ll even learn more about tennis.
Anyway, that’s all for now. Just wanted to share my little experience. Maybe it’ll inspire someone else to check out a local sports team. You never know what you might find.
