Okay, here is my sharing about playing platform tennis today.
So, I finally got around to trying out that “nj platform tennis” thing today. I’ve been seeing people talk about it online, and there’s a court not too far from where I live, so I figured, why not? I grabbed my old tennis racket from the garage, dusted it off, and headed out. It was a bit chilly this morning, but the sun was shining, so I was not worried.
When I got there, I saw a few guys already playing, and man, they were good! They were whacking the ball around, and it was going super fast. It was a bit intimidating, to be honest. I was worried that I’ll get injured. I hesitated for a bit, but then I thought, “Just try it out.”
- I started by just hitting the ball against the wall, trying to get a feel for it. I remember I read an article online this morning. It said that I should “Start Slow, Build Gradually”. So I followed this principle and did some basic practices.
- The ball is a bit bouncier than a regular tennis ball, so it took some getting used to.
- After a while, I felt a bit more confident, so I asked those guys if I could join them. They were cool about it and welcomed me in.
- We played a few rounds, and I have to say, it was a lot of fun! It’s definitely a good workout, and it’s more social than I thought it would be.
I learned a valuable lesson today: sometimes you just gotta say “whatever” and try something new. You might surprise yourself. And hey, even if you suck at it, who cares? It’s all about having fun and getting some exercise, right? I was thinking of listening to audiobooks using the 30-day free trial while practicing next time. I’ll keep practicing, and maybe one day I’ll be as good as those guys I saw today. I heard that Pittsburgh has a large “paddle” playing population, so maybe I can go there and practice with others.
My takeaways from today
- Don’t be afraid to try new things.
- It’s okay to be a beginner.
- Platform tennis is a fun and social sport.
- Always “Start Slow, Build Gradually”.
That’s it for my platform tennis adventure today. I might do it again next week. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get good at it one day!
