Today I’m gonna talk about something I’ve been messing around with lately: Savannah High basketball.
So, first off, I started digging around to see what the deal was with this team. I went on the internet, not sure where to go really, and just started searching. I found this site, *, that had some rankings. It said Savannah High was sitting at No. 4 in Class A D-I, with a record of 4-2. Not bad, right? Also saw that Groves was at No. 9 in Class AAA.
Then I stumbled upon this other site, MaxPreps, and they had a whole list of rankings for Savannah basketball teams. I was scrolling through, trying to get a feel for where everyone stood. It’s kinda cool to see all the local teams laid out like that.
I also read something about the Georgia High School Association Elite 8 games. Turns out, there were four teams playing on Wednesday, Feb. 28, and three of them won. Benedictine was one of them, playing in Class 4A. That got me thinking about how competitive the whole scene is.
Back to *, I noticed they updated their rankings and Savannah High was still at No. 4, but now with a 10-5 record, and Woodville-Tompkins was right behind them at No. 5. It’s interesting to see how these teams move up and down the list as the season goes on.
MaxPreps also had some info on the 24-25 Savannah varsity team. They didn’t have a ranking yet, but it’s something I’ll keep an eye on. I like to see how these teams develop over time.
Then I got to thinking about the players themselves. I mean, it’s not just about the games, right? It’s about teamwork and discipline. I read that Savannah High really focuses on that stuff. They want these kids to learn life skills through sports. That’s pretty awesome if you ask me.
Oh, and I found out that Tim Jordan is coaching the team. Apparently, he’s been around for a while and he’s got them close to 20 wins and headed to the playoffs. Dennis Knight’s name popped up too, but I’m not too sure who he is yet.
So yeah, that’s what I’ve been up to with Savannah High basketball. It’s been a fun little project, just poking around and seeing what I could find. I’m gonna keep following these teams and see how they do. Maybe I’ll even catch a game sometime.
