Well, let me tell ya ’bout this young fella, Jack Spicer, the hockey player. Seems like a good kid, plays goalie, you know, the one who stops the puck. Heard he’s from Rockville, Maryland. Born in ’04, so he’s just a young’un, not even dry behind the ears yet, probably.
Now, they say he’s been playin’ since 2022, up to 2025 or so. That’s a right short career, but I reckon he’s got a long way to go. He played for some team called the Waterloo Black Hawks, in somethin’ called the USHL. Don’t know much about that, but sounds fancy. And he’s done pretty good, hear tell he’s won a bunch of games, even had a perfect game once! That’s somethin’ special, ain’t it? Being perfect at somethin’. Wish I could say the same about my apple pie, always seems to burn on the bottom.
This Jack fella, he’s a big deal, it seems. They even talkin’ about him for the NHL draft, that’s the big leagues, like the majors in baseball. He’s what they call a prospect, means folks think he’s got a future in hockey. And seems he’s decided to go to college too, to the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Smart kid, gettin’ an education, that’s important. Always told my grandbabies, gotta have somethin’ to fall back on, even if you’re good at hittin’ that puck.
- Born: April 28, 2004
- From: Rockville, MD
- Position: Goalie
They say he’s 6 foot 1 and weighs 180 pounds. Good size for a goalie, I guess. And he catches with his left hand, which, I dunno, seems kinda backwards, but what do I know about hockey? I’m just an old woman who watches the birds and knits sweaters.
He played for them Waterloo Black Hawks and won a bunch of games. He was even named the goalie of the week a few times, or so I heard. Seems like he’s a real good player, this Jack Spicer. Keeps them pucks outta the net, that’s for sure.
Now, they also mentioned somethin’ ’bout some other fellas, the Hughes brothers. Three of ’em, all playin’ in the NHL. Sounds like a whole family of hockey players. Good for them, I guess. This Spicer boy, though, he ain’t related to them Hughes fellas, as far as I know. He’s makin’ his own way, this Jack is.
And then there was talk about some other hockey players, Johnson and Campbell. They signed contracts and play for different teams. Johnson plays for Columbus, and Campbell signed with Detroit. Good for them, but we’re talkin’ about Jack Spicer here, the young goalie from Rockville. He’s the one we’re interested in.
He seems like a good kid, this Jack. Hard-working, dedicated. You can tell he loves the game, the way they talk about him. And that’s important, you know. Gotta have passion, gotta love what you do, whether it’s stoppin’ pucks or bakin’ pies. So, I’m rootin’ for ya, Jack Spicer. Go get ‘em, kid! Make us proud.
Anyways, that’s all I know about this Jack Spicer. Just a young fella playin’ hockey and doin’ real good. Hope he keeps it up, makes somethin’ of himself. We need more good young people in this world, that’s for sure.
