Oh well, you know, there’s this young fella named John McNelis, and he’s a hockey player, right? People around Sioux Falls talk about him a lot lately. He’s been skatin’ for the Sioux Falls Stampede, and they say he’s really made a name for himself. Just this year, they put him on the 2023-2024 All-USHL Rookie Second Team. Now, I don’t know much about all them fancy titles, but from what I hear, that’s somethin’ mighty impressive.
This boy, John, he’s been real busy on the ice, playin’ in 62 games! Can you imagine that? Sixty-two games! And he ain’t just skatin’ for fun; he’s makin’ things happen too. They say he scored 18 goals and helped out with 20 assists. So, in total, that’s 38 points, which they tell me is pretty high for someone just startin’ out. Seems like the boy’s got some real talent. And it ain’t just me sayin’ that—he ranked fourth in rookie scoring for the whole USHL. Now, I ain’t sure what all them numbers mean, but it sounds like he’s doin’ a good job, don’t it?
John didn’t just pop up outta nowhere though. This ain’t his first rodeo. Before he joined the Stampede, he was playin’ with other teams too. I heard he spent some time with the Long Island Gulls for a season, and before that, he was with a team called Little Caesars for a bit. And way before all that, he was playin’ with the New Jersey Colonials. So, this boy’s been skatin’ around for quite a few years, learnin’ the ropes.
Now, let me tell you, it ain’t easy to get to where John is today. I mean, playin’ in them 62 regular-season games ain’t for the faint of heart. Takes a lotta hard work, dedication, and maybe a bit of grit too. I reckon John’s got all that, and that’s why he’s doin’ so well. Folks around here are sayin’ he’s got a bright future ahead in hockey. Maybe one day we’ll see him playin’ in them big leagues. But for now, he’s workin’ hard with the Stampede, and they sure are lucky to have him on their team.
So, if you ain’t heard of John McNelis yet, you might want to keep an eye on him. He’s already made quite a name for himself in the USHL, and I bet he ain’t slowin’ down anytime soon. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll all be sayin’, “I remember when that boy was just startin’ out with the Stampede.”
