Alright, so you wanna gab about this TCU football, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t always pretty, but it sure gets your blood pumpin’. I seen these boys play, and sometimes they make ya wanna cheer, and other times, well, let’s just say you might wanna throw your hat on the ground and stomp on it a few times.
First off, they got this coach, Sonny, right? People are jawin’ about whether he’s gonna keep his job. “What does Sonny need to do to save his job in 2025?” That’s what they’re askin’. I say, win some games! It ain’t rocket science, is it? Folks don’t pay good money to watch a team lose all the time. They want touchdowns, they want excitement, and they sure as heck don’t want no “hb draw” for thirteen stinkin’ yards when the game’s on the line. Lord have mercy, that kind of play makes my teeth hurt.
- Now, where do folks go to talk about all this? Well, there’s them “TCU football forums”, I hear. Sounds fancy, don’t it? I ain’t never been on one of them computer things myself, but my grandson tells me that’s where all the young’uns go to yap about the games.
- They talk about the players, the coaches, the plays… everything! “TCU News and Recruiting”, they call it. They even got stuff about basketball too, if you’re into that sort of thing.
- It’s like a big town square, but it’s all on that there internet. “TCU Horned Frogs and Lady Frogs,” they got all sorts of teams, it seems. Always jumpin’ around, them frogs.
And get this, there’s even some folks playin’ pretend football with the TCU team. My grandson told me about it. It’s a “college simulation football league” with a whole bunch of teams, and somebody gotta be the coach for TCU. Can you imagine? Pretendin’ to be a coach! Well, I guess it’s better than sittin’ around doin’ nothin’. They’re lookin’ for someone to lead them to “glory,” they say. Glory, huh? Sounds like a whole lot of fuss for a game, but I guess that’s what makes it fun.
Anyways, back to this real football team. They gotta be tough, they gotta be smart, and they gotta work together. That’s what my pappy always said about football, and he knew a thing or two, bless his heart. He used to say, “Making a stand.” That’s what it’s all about. When the other team’s pushin’ hard, you gotta dig in your heels and push back harder. You gotta show ’em what you’re made of.
And that’s what I wanna see from these TCU boys. I wanna see ’em fight, I wanna see ’em scrap, and I wanna see ’em win. I don’t care how fancy their plays are, or how much money they make. I just wanna see ’em play with heart. That’s what matters. That’s what makes a team worth cheerin’ for. So, go on out there, boys, and make us proud. And for goodness sake, don’t run that “hb draw” again when you need a first down!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about football’s made me hungry. But you young’uns go on and have fun on them “forums”. Just remember to be nice to each other, ya hear? It’s just a game, after all.
