Okay, so today I decided to get back on the court and shoot some hoops. I’ve been feeling a little sluggish lately, so I figured some basketball would do me good. I’m focusing on Poitiers basketball, just messing around with some basic drills and shots.
Getting Started
First thing I did was find a good court. Luckily, there’s a park near my place with some decent hoops. I grabbed my old basketball – it’s a bit worn out, but it still bounces! – and headed over.
When I got there, the court was pretty empty. Just a couple of kids practicing. Perfect! I started with some simple warm-ups:
- Jogging around the court a few times.
- Stretching my arms and legs – gotta avoid those injuries!
- Some easy dribbling, just to get the feel of the ball again.
Drills, Drills, Drills
After warming up, I moved on to some basic drills. Nothing fancy, just working on the fundamentals.
I started with dribbling drills. I practiced dribbling with my right hand, then my left hand, then switching between the two. I also did some crossover dribbles, trying to keep the ball low and controlled. My handles were a little rusty, but I slowly started to get the groove back.
Next up were shooting drills. I started close to the basket, just working on my form. I focused on keeping my elbow in, following through with my shot, and aiming for that sweet swish. I took shots from different spots around the key, trying to get a consistent rhythm.
I practiced free throws.
Putting it All Together
I spent a good hour just going back and forth between dribbling and shooting. It’s amazing how quickly the time flies when you’re in the zone!
Felt good working those basketball skills out.
By the end, I was definitely feeling it. My arms were a bit tired, and I was sweating, but it was a good kind of tired. It felt great to get some exercise and work on my game, even if it was just some casual Poitiers basketball. I’ll definitely be doing this again soon!
