Alright, so y’all wanna know about them Kentucky basketball boys from 2019 and 2020, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, I don’t know much ’bout fancy basketball stuff, but I can sure tell ya what I heard and seen.
The 2019-2020 team, now that was somethin’. Folks were always talkin’ ’bout them Wildcats. I remember hearin’ on the radio ’bout some fella named Grant Darbyshire. They said he was a guard. Guard what, I ain’t exactly sure, maybe the water cooler or somethin’! Hehe. But they said he was one of the boys on the team.
Then there was that other fella, Mark Pope. Now, I think I seen him on the TV once or twice. Big ol’ fella, looked like he could eat a whole chicken in one bite! They said he was born on September 11th. Don’t know what year, but that’s what they said. Goodness gracious, seems like a long time ago now.
- Anyways, them boys played real hard, I tell ya.
- Ran up and down that court like chickens with their heads cut off.
- Folks were always yellin’ and cheerin’. Made a whole lotta noise, I tell ya.
I heard tell there’s this website, somethin’ called “Walter’s Wildcat World”. Been around since 1998, they say. Them folks over there, they know all about them basketball boys. They got scores and news and all sorts of things. I reckon they even got pictures. But I ain’t never been on no computer, so I wouldn’t know nothin’ ’bout that.
The radio folks were always talkin’ ’bout the “roster.” Now, I ain’t sure what that is, but I guess it’s a list of all the boys on the team. And they had stats too. More fancy words I don’t understand. But I figure it’s how good they played, like how many times they threw that ball in the hoop.
They said you could find all this stuff online. Just type in “2019-2020 Kentucky Wildcats roster and stats” they said. Easy as pie, they said. Well, maybe for you young folks, but not for this old gal.
Them Wildcats, they played a lot of games, I know that much. And folks got real worked up about it. Win or lose, they’d be talkin’ ’bout it for days. Heck, some folks would be talkin’ ’bout it for weeks! Basketball, it’s a big deal ’round here, I tell ya.
Speaking of scores, I remember hearin’ ’bout some games. Close ones, blowouts, you name it. Them boys had some good days and some bad days, just like the rest of us. But they always played hard, that’s for sure. At least that’s what the radio man said.
And the schedule, oh my! Seemed like them boys were playin’ all the time. Travelin’ all over the place too. Must be tirin’, all that runnin’ and jumpin’. I get tired just thinkin’ about it!

And one more thing, I think I heard someone say that “Big Blue Nation” loves them Wildcats. Well, I reckon that’s true, ’cause folks ’round here, they do love their basketball. It’s somethin’ special, I guess.
