Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get back into shape, and basketball seemed like a fun way to do it. I used to play a bit in high school, nothing serious, but I figured, why not? Plus, I live in Kocaeli, and I’d heard there were some decent courts around.
First thing I did was dig out my old basketball shoes. They were pretty dusty, tucked away in the back of my closet. Gave them a good wipe down, and they looked… well, usable. I also found an old basketball, a bit deflated, but nothing a pump couldn’t fix.
Finding a Court
Next step, finding a place to play. I asked around, checked some local forums, you know, the usual. I heard about a few parks with courts, and also some indoor facilities, just in case the weather turned bad, It’s autumn, always rain!
- Tried this one park, the court surface needed some care!
- I decided to do some dribbling drills, and shooting.
My “Training”
I started slow, just some basic dribbling. My handles were rusty, to say the least. The ball felt like it had a mind of its own, bouncing every which way. I kept at it though, trying to get a feel for it again.
Then, I moved on to shooting. Oh boy. My shots were all over the place. Bricks, airballs, you name it. But hey, I was having fun, and that’s what mattered, right? I spent about an hour, just dribbling and shooting, working up a good sweat.
I’m definitely going to keep at it. Maybe find some people to play with, join a local pickup game, or just keep practicing by myself. It’s a good workout, and a fun way to spend an afternoon. Plus, who knows, maybe I’ll even get my jump shot back someday.
Eventually, I achieved a good workout.
