You know, folks, there’s somethin’ real excitin’ goin’ on up at Lake Region. A place where the winters sure do get chilly, but that’s the perfect time for hockey, right? So, the college up there, Lake Region State, they done gone and started their own men’s and women’s hockey teams. Can you believe it? The first home matches were held on October 12th, against the NDSU Club team, and let me tell you, folks were all a-buzzin’ about it.
Now, this ain’t just any ordinary hockey. No sir. Brady Stein, he’s the one runnin’ the men’s hockey team for now, and he sure has his hands full. He’s the interim head coach, ya know, and I heard he’s been workin’ real hard to get them boys up to speed. Folks say he’s been doin’ a mighty fine job, but it takes time to build a good team, especially in a place like this where hockey’s not been the biggest thing before.
But, you gotta hand it to ’em. The whole town’s supportin’ this new hockey program, and that’s somethin’ that can’t be ignored. They’re all sittin’ in the bleachers, cheerin’ on them young folks like it’s the biggest event of the year. It’s not just about the game, but about what it means for the community, too. Now, I ain’t no expert on all the ins and outs of hockey, but I know when a bunch of kids from the town get together and try to make somethin’ work, it’s worth a little attention.
One thing that’s clear as day is that the folks over at Lake Region sure do know how to put on a show. The hockey rink there, it’s a sight to see. Big ol’ lights, a crowd of people clappin’ and stompin’ their feet, and the sound of skates hittin’ that ice. It’s the kinda thing that gets your heart pumpin’. And let’s not forget, the women’s team, they were just as ready to show what they got. People don’t always talk about women’s hockey like they should, but I reckon this team is gonna change that.
So if you’re ever up that way, you might wanna stop by and take in a game or two. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon and support your local college kids. I hear they’re workin’ on their schedule, and I reckon it’s gonna get busier as the season goes on. Whether you’re watchin’ the men’s team or the women’s, it’s a chance to see somethin’ special happenin’ in a place where the cold weather makes the ice perfect for a good ol’ game of hockey.
And you know, the kids are gettin’ better every time they hit the ice. It don’t matter if they’re fallin’ down or skatin’ sideways, they’re learnin’ fast. You can see it in their eyes, they want to make their team proud. They’re just like the folks who built up this town—hard workin’ and determined. As the season moves along, I’m sure we’ll see them grow stronger and stronger. It’s always a good feelin’ when you see folks come together and build somethin’ from the ground up.
So, to sum it all up, Lake Region’s hockey teams, both men’s and women’s, are somethin’ to keep an eye on. They’re new, they’re hungry, and they’re ready to show the world what they got. If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do and wanna be part of somethin’ exciting, I’d say it’s well worth your time to check it out. This may just be the start of somethin’ big for Lake Region hockey. Who knows? Maybe in a few years, folks’ll be talkin’ about those teams like they’re the next big thing in college hockey. And when that happens, you’ll be able to say you were there from the start.
