Okay, so I recently checked out the Lenz Tennis Center, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. I’ve been itching to get back on the court lately, and I heard about this place over in Princeton. I decided to take the plunge and see what all the fuss was about.
First off, finding the place was a bit of a journey. I punched “Princeton University – Lenz Tennis Center Elm Lane Princeton” into my GPS and set off. It’s tucked away on the north side of Woodlands Way, which I learned is where the North Courts are.
When I finally arrived, I was pretty impressed. This wasn’t just a couple of beat-up old courts. We’re talking about a premier sports facility. I strolled around and saw that they have four main tennis courts and this cool covered viewing area they call a pavilion. It’s up on the upper level, so you can get a good view of the action.
Now, I noticed some construction going on. Apparently, they knocked down the old facility they used for varsity matches to make way for some new complex. That’s ambitious! I’m curious to see what they’re building.
I spent a good chunk of time just observing the whole setup. The pavilion itself is a pretty neat little building. They call it the “Cordish Family Pavilion”. I found it had these clean lines and a modern feel. It’s definitely designed with tennis fans in mind.
I didn’t actually play that day, but just being there got me excited. I saw a dedication date of May 6, 1984, which means the place has some history. This wasn’t some fly-by-night operation. This was a real tennis center with deep roots in the Princeton community.
- Explored the grounds of the Lenz Tennis Center.
- Located the facility on the north side of Woodlands Way.
- Observed the four main tennis courts and the Cordish Family Pavilion.
- Noted the ongoing construction of a new complex.
- Admired the modern design of the pavilion.
- Reflected on the history of the center, dating back to 1984.
I can’t wait to go back and actually play. It felt like a top-notch place to get my tennis fix. If you’re ever in the Hightstown, NJ area, and you’re into tennis, you gotta check it out. It’s definitely on my list for regular visits.
