Okay, so today I wanted to keep better track of the tennis scores, especially for Wawrinka’s matches. I’m a big fan, and sometimes I just lose track during the live games.
Getting Started
First, I tried just jotting things down on paper. You know, old school style. But that got messy real quick. Papers everywhere, couldn’t find anything, total disaster.
Trying Out Apps
Then I figured, “Hey, there must be an app for this!” So I went digging. I downloaded a couple of highly-rated sports score apps. Tested them during a match.
- Pros: They were okay for getting the basic scores, pretty quickly too.
- Cons: Too much extra stuff! I didn’t need all the stats and news about other players. Plus, all the notifications were driving me nuts!
Building My Own Tracker (Sort Of)
Since the apps weren’t quite cutting it, I thought, “Why not just use a simple spreadsheet?”. I’m no programmer, but I can handle a spreadsheet!
So I opened up a new spreadsheet. Kept it super basic:
- Column A: Match Date
- Column B: Opponent
- Column C: Set 1 Score
- Column D: Set 2 Score
- …and so on for the sets.
I filled it in during Wawrinka’s next match. It worked pretty well! Much cleaner than my messy paper system, and I could easily see all his past match results at a glance.
Still Room for Improvement
It’s not perfect, obviously. I still have to manually enter everything. But for now, it’s a good way for me to keep track of Wawrinka’s tennis scores without getting overwhelmed. Maybe someday I’ll learn to code something fancier, but this is working for me!
