Okay, so today I decided to check out the Lafayette Tennis Club. I’ve been meaning to get back into tennis, and a friend mentioned this place was pretty good. So, I figured, why not?
First thing I did was look them up. Find out the basics, you know? Where are they, when are they open, that sort of stuff. Found the address and headed over.
When I got there, the first thing I noticed was the courts. Lots of courts. I didn’t count them all, but there were definitely plenty. Some were in use, some were empty. All looked in good condition.
Checking Things Out
I went inside to the main building. It was your standard clubhouse setup, with the reception, changing rooms, and a little seating place.
I spoke to the person at the desk, explaining I was interested in checking the place out. Asked about the membership, the cost, if they had any beginners level social groups, or anything like that.
The staff was nice, she explained all the pricing for me, options and everything, and told me to go out and play whenever I wanted, and that there were always people playing.
- She gave me some papers with all the info.
- Talked me through the different court types they had.
I thanked her, took the papers, and wandered back outside.
So, I watched a couple of people playing, just to get a feel for the place. Seemed like a friendly vibe, nothing too serious or competitive. That’s what I’m looking for, just a casual, fun environment to get back into playing.
Finally, I was happy with what I saw, I went back to the reception, filled some paperwork, and got my membership.
All in all, a good first impression. Lafayette Tennis Club seems like a solid place to play. Now I just need to, you know, actually play.
