Alright, so, today I was digging into some old-school football stuff, specifically the 1969 Alabama Crimson Tide football roster. I gotta say, it was a bit of a trip down memory lane, even though I wasn’t even alive back then!
First off, I started by just Googling around for “1969 Alabama football roster.” I found a few different sites that had some info, but nothing was really organized in a way that I liked. It was all kind of scattered, you know? So, I decided I’d have to piece it together myself.
I grabbed a pen and a notebook – yeah, I’m old school like that sometimes – and started jotting down names and any other info I could find. I saw some familiar names, but a lot of them were totally new to me. I mean, we’re talking about a team from over 50 years ago!
Then, I started looking at their schedule and results for that season. I noticed they had a pretty good run, with some big wins against Virginia Tech, Southern Miss, and Ole Miss. But it also seemed like they had a tough loss against Vanderbilt.
Here’s a little bit of what I managed to put together:
- September 20th: They played against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, and won 17-13.
- September 27th: A home game against Southern Miss in Tuscaloosa, AL, and they crushed it, 63-14.
- October 4th: Another win against Ole Miss in Birmingham, AL, with a close score of 33-32.
- October 11th: Looks like they lost to Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. Not sure how that turned out yet.
It’s still a work in progress. I found a few website with a tag called “University of Alabama Football” “Alabama Football Roster 1969,” but these are not detailed enough.
I’m planning on continuing to dig around and see if I can find a complete roster list. Maybe I’ll even try to track down some old newspaper articles or something. I think it’s pretty cool to look back at the history of these teams and see how things have changed over the years.
Anyway, that’s my little project for now. If anyone out there has any info on the 1969 Alabama Crimson Tide, feel free to share! I’m all ears.
