Well, lemme tell ya, things are stirrin’ up over in Maine, with hockey comin’ at ya strong! Now, I ain’t no big city gal, but even here in the backwoods, folks know what’s goin’ on with the Maine Black Bears and the Mariners. So, here’s what I know about the whole hockey scene around here, and it’s a lot more excitin’ than you’d think!
Now, first off, them Maine Black Bears, they ain’t no pushovers! They been doin’ real good this season, and the word is, they’re makin’ quite a stir in the NCAA tournament. They’re sittin’ at a 32-30 lead in shots against Boston College, which ain’t too shabby for them folks from the East. And let me tell ya, they might’ve missed a couple chances on the power play, but they still know how to bring it home. They’ve been real tough on defense too, with Albin Boija makin’ a good 27 saves in the last game. Folks sayin’ he’s been a real brick wall this year!
But that ain’t all! This here team, they’ve been makin’ their mark in the NCAA. I heard tell that they’re movin’ up in the rankings after beatin’ a top team like Boston College. A big upset like that? It’s got the whole town talkin’! It’s been a while since Maine’s had such a strong team, and I reckon folks are startin’ to pay attention. They’re now sittin’ pretty in the top five, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of. Now, they’re set to face off against Cornell in Springfield for a big ol’ showdown.
And if ya thought that was the only good news, you’d be wrong. These Black Bears been on fire this season, and if ya ain’t seen their last game where they shut out New Hampshire 5-0, you’re missin’ somethin’. Josh and Bradly Nadeau, them two boys, they were all over the ice, puttin’ in two goals each. The whole team is on fire, and it’s lookin’ like they’re gonna make a real run for it this year!
But don’t go forgettin’ about the Maine Mariners neither! They’s the professional hockey team here, playin’ in the ECHL, and folks around Portland been real excited about their games. Ain’t nothin’ like a good ol’ hockey game to get the town buzzin’. The Mariners been holdin’ it down, and ya best believe, they got a lotta heart. Keepin’ up with ’em, I hear they been doin’ some preseason games, and folks been excited to see how they line up for the big season ahead.
And for those of ya wonderin’, if you ever get yourself out to Orono, Maine, you’ll see the Black Bears playin’ their games at the Harold Alfond Sports Arena. It’s a big ol’ place, and when them Black Bears hit the ice, you know it’s gonna be a show. They even got themselves a song called the Maine Stein Song. For Maine, you know, it’s a real tradition!
So yeah, hockey in Maine’s lookin’ real good these days. Ain’t no doubt about it, the Black Bears are makin’ a name for themselves, and the Mariners are keepin’ folks on their toes. If you ain’t already watchin’, you better get on it—hockey season’s here, and it ain’t slowin’ down anytime soon!
